A Magical Moment With A Disney Dolphin

The team at WDW Parkhoppers has been privileged to experience many wonderful things in the Disney community. Today, we had the chance for two new such memorable experiences.

The first is the wonderful dolphin show at the aquarium inside Epcot’s The Seas with Nemo and Friends. Parkhopper Sid has a special love for the dolphins and was delighted to learn of this show. Trainers, who have been working with the dolphins, host the show to teach park-goers about the dolphins and to show off their athleticism and intelligence. It was so much fun to watch and the reactions of all in attendance, kids and adults alike, was delightful.

The second surprise came at the end of the dolphin show. We stuck around to ask a few questions and to thank the cast members for the show. As we were talking to a young woman named Sadie, another cast member came over .  After exchanging a knowing glance with Sadie, she asked if we would like a Magical Moment. Let me pause here to say that as often as we are able to go to Walt Disney World, we have never been a part of an official Magical Moment. We gleefully said yes.

We then stepped aside to watch the first of three families kneel down in front of the glass window that looks into the dolphin tank. The trainer then blew her tiny whistle and made a few gestures and suddenly the two dolphins were against the glass, smiling for the camera like members of the family. It was priceless.

Our turn came next and we grinned from ear to ear. Parkhopper Sid could not resist a few glances over her shoulder to look into the eyes of these majestic beings. It was amazing to see them up close, if even for a moment. And then we looked front, smiled and just like that we were done and it was time for the last family to have their Magical Moment. This was such a great afternoon and we are so grateful to the trainers and the dolphins for making this happen.  Make sure you check this out next time you find yourself in Epcot, you won’t be sorry!

If you want to see this amazing demonstration, here is what you need to know:

This is not the Dolphin Encounter, that is a paid tour that allows you to actually dive with the dolphins.  This is a demonstration that presents the amazing skills and abilities of theses incredible creatures.  It is fun, education, and perfect for young and old alike. The demonstrations are given three times a day on the second floor observation deck.  Check your times guides or ask a Disney Cast Member to confirm times and location.
