Christmas Wedding Engagements at Walt Disney World Resort

Second only to Valentine’s Day, Christmas is the most popular day for couples to get engaged.  And for the Disney enthusiast, what better place is there to “pop the question” than at one of the incredibly picturesque Walt Disney World locations?

Disney obliges its guests by offering some great choices for a Christmas proposal: any one of the amazing Christmas trees around property, the grand staircase at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, but what if you want a truly UNFORGETTABLE proposal location?

Here are some ideas you may want to consider:

Life-Sized Gingerbread Carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Entertainment Earth

Located just inside of the resort’s lobby, the life-sized carousel is as beautiful as it is tasty.  Created with 100 pounds of icing, 50 pounds of dark chocolate and 36 pounds of honey, Disney Chefs use 100 pounds of confectioner sugar and 96 pounds of bread flour to build their Christmas creation.  The spinning carousel includes ponies made of chocolate and fondant, hand-painted chocolate versions of Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald!  The Beach Club’s Gingerbread and Chocolate Carousel is a great spot for the Disney Foodie to ask that special someone for their hand in marriage.

The Great Christmas Tree at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of the most beautiful resorts on Disney Property.  And with the addition of Christmas decorations, Animal Kingdom Lodge is a “must do” for anyone visiting Walt Disney World during the Christmas Season.  With the beautiful tree and 5 story windows, it’s one of the most picturesque locations on property…and a tremendous place for a proposal for any Disney or animal fan.

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights

Brought to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 1995, the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights is 5 million lights worth of Christmas Magic complete with snow and holiday music.  Housed on the Streets of America, there are several great vantage points for the Dancing Lights as well as proposal locations.   The lights turn on around dusk every evening during the holiday season and the Dancing Light Shows last around 10 minutes…in between there is tons of Christmas music and snow to enjoy.  You can also hunt Hidden Mickeys as well as try to find the elusive black cat (which is actually made of black lights, so it’s sort of purple, not black).

The Gingerbread House at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

If you have ever built a gingerbread house and wished for a life-sized version, wishes do come true.  Inside the main lobby of the Grand Floridian, you will find a life-sized house made completely of gingerbread and it would be an amazing backdrop for a Christmas engagement.

Cinderella Castle

At dusk the Magic Kingdom becomes a Christmas dreamland of lights and sounds of the season.  But the most magical moment comes when Cinderella Castle transforms into an incredible palace of ice as hundreds of LED lights illuminate the world’s most photographed icon.  It may seem a “no brainer” for a couple to get engaged at the Icon of Icons, but at night during the Christmas season, Cinderella Castle makes for some jaw-dropping photographic memories and an unforgettable engagement location!

Wishes or Illuminations

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want fireworks to explode when you get engaged?  With some extra planning and some timing, you can propose and Disney will provide all the fireworks you need for the most memorable engagement of a lifetime!  And you have 2 great shows to choose from: Wishes at Disney’s Magic Kingdom and Illuminations at Epcot!  If it were up to me, I’d vote for Wishes…you also get the Castle in the background as well…

One great benefit to getting engaged at the Walt Disney World Resort is the convenience of Disney photographers.  An engagement ring and a little pre-planning and you are only a Disney Photopass away from photographic memories that will last a lifetime!

And if you need some help in planning a truly “magical” wedding engagement (or even the wedding itself), Disney offers guests the Disney Fairytales and Honeymoons Blog to help you with all your planning needs.
