Disney Announces 2015 Slate Of Pixar, Marvel And Star Wars Movies
Disney officially announced its 2015 slate of films yesterday and it’s time to brace yourself for the Year of the Mouse.
The Walt Disney DIS -0.54% Company has a consistent business model of rejuvenating its film and animation divisions through the strategic purchases of stand-out creative properties while allowing them room to grow under the Disney banner. This pattern included buying Miramax in 1993 and letting the Weinsteins run it until 2005, as well as when they turned their Mouse Eye of Sauron on Pixar in 2006 as a means of solidifying their most marketable animated properties and as a way of giving an injection of the John Lasseter spirit into Disney’s hallmark animated fare.
