Disney/ABC Television Group Receives 50 Daytime Emmy Award Nominations

The Disney/ABC Television Group received 50 nominations for the 40st Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards. General Hospital was honored with 19 nominations, including a nod for Outstanding Drama Series. The View received its 14th nomination for Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment. ABC News’ Good Morning America received its seventh consecutive nomination for Outstanding Morning Program. Good Morning America has won the award in three out of six years since the category was created. Good Afternoon America, the one-hour extension of Good Morning America, was nominated for Outstanding Original Song for “Good Afternoon,” written and performed by Little Big Town.

Disney-ABC Domestic Television received a total of seven nominations. Freshman talker Katie received its first nomination for Outstanding Talk Show/Informative. LIVE with Kelly and Michael was honored with two nods, including Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment, marking the 22nd nomination for the show. Live with Kelly and Michael received a nomination for Outstanding Directing in a Talk Show/Morning Program.Who Wants To Be A Millionaire received one nomination for Outstanding Game Show.

Joining General Hospital with nods for Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team is ABC’s One Life To Live with its final nominations in these categories. Jason Thompson (Patrick Drake on General Hospital) received his first nomination in the Lead Actor category. Thompson is a previous two-time nominee in the Supporting Actor category.

Emmy winner Julie Marie Berman (LuLu Spencer on General Hospital) received her first nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She has twice been honored as Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series. Bradford Anderson (Damien Spinelli onGeneral Hospital) received his fourth nomination in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category. Kristen Alderson (Starr Manning on General Hospital) and Lindsey Morgan (Kristina Corinthos Davis on General Hospital) each received their first nomination as Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series.

ABC received three nominations for the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade for Outstanding Achievement in Multiple Camera Editing, Outstanding Special Class Directing and Outstanding Achievement in Technical Direction/Electronic Camera/Video Control.

Disney Channel received six nominations, including the win for storyboard artist Robert Kline for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation for Disney Junior’s Minnie’s Bow-Toons: Piano Movers & Shakers. Disney Junior series Jake and the Never Land Pirates is nominated for Outstanding Preschool Animated Program, Doc McStuffins for Outstanding Writing in Animation, and “3rd and Bird” from 3rd and Bird!, performed by Ziggy Marley, was nominated for Outstanding Original Song. Disney’s Friends for Change: Education in India and Make Your Mark: Ben Horowitz, Bullying PSA are both nominated for Outstanding Special Class Short Format Daytime Program.

Disney XD is honored with four nominations, including the Outstanding Promotional Announcement – Episodic category for “TRON Rap Music Video,” Lee Tockar (as Pronto on Slugterra) is nominated for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program and Slugeterra is nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing – Animation and Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing – Animation.

The Daytime Emmy Awards presentation will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, June 16, 2013, in Beverly Hills, California. The Daytime Creative Arts Emmy® Awards presentation will return to the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles on Friday, June 14, 2013. Nominations were announced by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
