Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park Opens Zuri’s Sweets Shop In Harambe Village
Zuri’s Sweets Shop recently opened its doors in Harambe Market at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to showcase a bevy of new animal-inspired treats including a few that are slightly controversial!
The location features 80 new items, including decorative candy apples, uniquely flavored chocolate bars, African-spiced popcorn, animal-shaped lollipops, animal crackers, chocolate mini crocodiles and other treats.
Zuri’s Sweets Shop will also offer African spice rubs, a gourmet cocoa set and Flame Tree Barbeque sauce as well as an African Wine display from Mombasa Marketplace.
What has caused the most controversy is the addition to a few very unique sweets based on the “poop” of certain animals found in Africa.
It’s called Match the Species. There are edible versions of Elephant, Giraffe, Cotton Top Tamarin, and Hippopotamus poop to enjoy. For just $3.99 a pop, er poop, or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit, you can sample your very own edible animal excrement! (This is all in good fun, the pops are made from chocolate and contain NO animal ‘by products’)
