The Dinosaurs are Bigger and Badder in Jurassic Park 3D

20 years ago, I was 23 was about to see Jurassic Park for the first time.  The amazing story telling, the cinematography, the acting – all stellar, but what compelled me to see this movie on opening day and the next 3 consecutive days… was the dinosaurs.

The dinosaurs… from the very first moment we see giant Brachiosaurus I was hooked.  I remember thinking the dinosaurs not only LOOKED real, I almost believed they WERE real.  From that moment on, the CGI bar was set.

Flash forward 20 years….and I found myself in another movie theater, about to be amazed and inspired again.

I was invited to a special screening for Jurassic Park in 3D and IMAX.  I had only seen a few IMAX movies in the past, but this was truly an incredible event.

When the movie started I was surprised how well the film stood the test of time and how clean it looked – not just in IMAX but in the 3D medium.  It LOOKED awesome.  With the addition of IMAX, the dinosaurs were life-sized, and they were scary.

Jurassic Park 3D and IMAX

One of the really spectacular aspects of Jurassic Park in 3D and IMAX was the incredible camera angles and shots employed in the movie’s filming.  Some of the unique angles and shots really stood the test of time.

When the lights came up I could hardly get the smile off my face.  I love Jurassic Park and love it in IMAX and 3D, I am so glad they brought it back.  I think that it brings Steven Spielberg’s vision to life in a whole new and exciting way.

Jurassic Park is being touted as a masterpiece by Steven Spielberg, and I agree.  This movie changed me, and I am sure millions of others, forever.  The characters and images are ingrained in our culture.

Enjoy this movie and remember, objects in the mirror are closer than they appear!
